Seloken® ZOK builds on the established clinical utility of metoprolol in hypertension. In particular, metoprolol has been shown to have a cardioprotective effect, significantly reducing the risk of total and cardiovascular mortality compared to treatment with diuretics in men with mild to moderate hypertension 8 . The reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease is attributed to a reduction in the risk of sudden cardiovascular death, fatal and non-fatal MI, and stroke 8,22 .

Seloken® ZOK delivers sustained blood pressure reduction 24-hours post dosing

Once-daily Seloken ZOK (50 mg) has been shown to deliver clinically and statistically significant reductions in supine systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared with placebo, 24-hours following dosage 7 .

seloken 5

Seloken ZOK produces statistically and clinically significant reductions in supine systolic and diastolic blood pressure 24 hours post-dosage. Pooled results from three randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies 7 .

These findings support a number of earlier, well-controlled clinical studies, which demonstrate that Seloken ZOK produces both clinically and statistically significant reductions in blood pressure compared with placebo 23-32 . In several of these studies, Seloken ZOK was shown to produce at least an equivalent reduction in blood pressure to conventional metoprolol tablets 2-4 times daily.

In one study, Seloken ZOK (100 mg) once-daily was found to produce a significantly greater reduction in supine systolic blood pressure than the same dose via conventional, immediate-release, metoprolol tablets twice daily 31 .

The number of patients responding to treatment with Seloken ZOK has been shown to be significantly higher than the number of patients responding to treatment with an equivalent dose of conventional immediate-release, or matrix-based, sustained-release metoprolol 28 .
